Welcome to Fractal! By using our service, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

Fractal is a PDF text extraction tool that processes documents locally in your browser, preserving formatting and enabling export to popular productivity tools.

1. Service Description

Fractal provides:

• Local PDF text extraction with formatting preservation
• AI-powered formatting enhancement (Fractal+ only)
• OCR for scanned documents (Fractal+ only)
• Export to Notion and Google Docs (Fractal+ only)
• Extraction history storage

2. Usage Limits

Usage limits reset monthly. Exceeding limits will require upgrade or waiting for the next billing cycle.

3. Payment Terms

• Subscription: Fractal+ is billed at $9.99/month
• Payment Processing: All payments processed securely via Stripe
• Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
• Cancellation: Cancel anytime via your account settings. No refunds for partial months, but service continues until end of billing period
• Refund Policy: 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers
• Price Changes: We'll notify you 30 days before any price changes

4. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to:

• Circumvent or attempt to bypass usage limits or access controls
• Use Fractal for any illegal activities or to process illegal content
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense Fractal or its features
• Use automated tools or bots to abuse the service
• Share your account credentials with others
• Interfere with or disrupt the service's functionality

Violations may result in immediate account termination without refund.

5. Intellectual Property

Your Content: You retain all rights to your original PDF documents and extracted text. By using our export features, you grant us permission to temporarily process your content for the sole purpose of exporting to your chosen destination.

Our Service: Fractal, including its design, code, algorithms, and branding, is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. All rights reserved.

Fractal is provided "as-is" without warranties. We strive for 99.9% uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications at any time. We are not liable for any damages resulting from service downtime or data loss.

8. Account Termination

By You: You may delete your account at any time via Account Settings. Upon deletion, all your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

By Us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the service. Terminated accounts are not eligible for refunds.

9. Limitation of Liability

Fractal is provided as a productivity tool. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, including but not limited to data loss, extraction errors, or business interruption. Maximum liability is limited to the amount paid for your subscription in the past 12 months.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes via email or prominent notice in the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration.
